Welcome! I’m so glad you are here. let me introduce myself - I’m Kate Baily - an author of two books Love Yourself Sober (2020) and Love Your Sober Year (2022), certified coach, trainer and speaker, and co-founder of Love Sober, a place for women, mums and carers to explore positive, strength based pathways of alcohol-free living through courses and membership. I’m also a certified Menopause Doula and help other women with midlife transition and perimenopause.
Sobriety is the fundamental act of self-care and self-love that allows all others for me. It’s the one fundamental boundary which allows me, because of the clarity and alignment it brings to set all the others.
In my work I also aim to raise awareness about normative drinking culture, challenge stereotypes and stigma and to ask better questions about why people drink and how we can get our needs met from self care, to education to affordable childcare for stressed out parents.
I am mother to two neurodivergent teens and I myself was diagnosed with ADHD this year. Life and all its warts and challenges is what we get. Sober is better, whatever else is going on.
I offer tips, reflections from my perspective on the sober path ( now in my 9th year) and coaching tools but in my writing I like to explore topics in a more nuanced ways so a bit of wandering off the path is my norm.
I’m a She Recovers Coach and as Dawn Nickel Phd., founder of She Recovers says, ‘We are all recovering from something’ and ain’t that the truth? So this is what I talk about on my substack - parenting, life, mental health, sober tools, nervous system regulation and hope, always hope. Another favourite quote is by Ram Dass ‘We are all just walking each other home.’’
I do a lot of thinking, processing and formulating ideas when I am walking the dogs in my local woods and I am grateful to share this Journey with other sober folk.
