I have celebrated this time of year since I was 16. This June I turn 56. It’s a return, a homecoming, this midlife, and I find my meandering path back to the things I shut away as I tried to adult and fit in for the last few decades. In midlife I find myself called back to the woods, to sit and relish quiet, savour the sun on my skin and yearn to hang out with the pause to breath and be.
Here is a little voice note I recorded from the woods. My invitation is to find a bit of space for yourself this weekend and drop in to quiet. Here are some journaling prompts if you feel called to write, or maybe you paint or wander or sit or lie or dance… or do nothing for a while.
Seasonal Reflection
Seasonal rhythms can support our sobriety, our wellbeing and our midlife
What signs of new life and growth can I see around me and within me?
What seeds (projects, ideas, intentions) did I plant earlier this year that are beginning to grow?
How do I honour the changing of the seasons in my own life?
How can I unfurl and trust the energy of the season so I do less?
Me aged 18, Beltane 1988, Whitstable, Kent, with Vic and Raina.
And this Beltane, aged 55.
